It’s the most wonderful time of year…. we’re ready to drop the puck on a new season of Sunday Night Hockey – starting Sunday, September 8 at Caledon East Community Complex!
EXPANSION:
With the help of our team reps, we were able to expand back up to 8 teams. This season will see a lot of new blood on the ice as we have 40+ rookies entering the league. I want to say Welcome to the Sunday Night Hockey League and thank you all for joining! Please make sure to read our LEAGUE RULES HERE before your first game. Note we have a mandatory half-visor rule.
NEW TEAMS + REPS:
It was a sad day in our team rep chat when we learned that long-time rep – Cam Coulter – had decided to join a league closer to home. Fortunately for us, Playoff MVP goalie Matt Pacella was up for the task and will be the new rep for the RiverRats. And with the expansion came the need for two additional teams and reps. Rookie of the Year James McLean will be captain of the Kraken, while league veteran Fab Iafano will be leading the Shooters. Thanks, Matt, James, and Fab for stepping up in these important team rep positions. The rest of the team reps remain the same as last season – Daryll Simpson, Dave Ilijasic, Marc de Abaitua, Steve Hutchins, and defending Callaghan Cup Champion, Jay Clark! Thanks, guys for all you do to help make this the BEST rec hockey league in the area! (Full team rosters are below.)
SHOOTOUT:
We have one new rule change that we will test out this season – the shootout! We don’t often end games in ties, but we’ll run a quick 3 player shootout to try to break the time. One player from each team will shoot at the same time. If the game is still tied after the shootout, we will score the game as a tie.
SPORTNINJA:
After a failed attempt with the TeamLinkt app, we’re moving to the SportNinja app for scheduling, standings, and stats this season. Please download the App if you don’t already have it. The team reps can use it to help manage and communicate with your team. It will give you game reminders, score updates, and you can also RSVP for attendance.
If you don’t have an account yet, use the same email address that you signed up with (the one this email was sent to). When you create your account, you should see that you’ve been added to your team already.
SCHEDULE:
The full regular season schedule is online on our website – https://sundaynighthockeyleague.ca. It’s also available in the SportNinja app. If you click on your team name, it will show your team page, schedule, stats, and roster.
Week 1 – Sep. 8: Caledon East
7:00pm – Kings vs Knights
8:00pm – WoodPuckers vs RiverRats
9:00pm – Shooters vs Slashers
10:00pm – Tailgators vs Kraken
A few dates to point out in the schedule:
- Five weeks in Caledon East, starting Sun Sep 8
- Then Bolton starting Sun Oct 20 for rest of season
- No games on Thanksgiving weekend
- Round-Robin Playoffs being Sun Jan 28
- Semi-Finals & Relegation Games – Sun Mar 20
- All-Star & Championship Games – SATURDAY Mar 29 – 6pm-8pm
Payment:
If you haven’t made arrangements, please make sure you pay your player fees BEFORE our first game.

Below are the team rosters. Your Team Rep is marked with a C – they should be connecting with you sometime in the next week. Players marked in red are all rookies. As you can see there are a lot – over 40. With that many new players, we did our best to balance the teams, but please note that we MAY be required to do some player shuffling after a few weeks.
